Parliament, Thursday, 10 November 2022 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communication and Digital Technologies, Mr Boyce Maneli, has joined the multitude of South Africans in mourning the passing of Ms Pearl Shongwe, whose illustrious career in the media industry kept many South Africans informed, educated and entertained for over a decade.

Mr Maneli has expressed his most heartfelt and sincere condolences to Ms Shongwe’s family, friends and colleagues in the media fraternity.

Her untimely passing has left many South Africans reeling with shock. She will be remembered for her captivating voice on the airwaves and her spirited personality.

Mr Maneli said: “We are deeply saddened by Ms Shongwe’s passing and we would like to also extend our deepest condolences to the management and staff of Metro FM, as well as the entire SABC family. May her soul rest in peace.”
