Parliament, Thursday, 13 August 2020 – The Chairperson of the Select Committee on Education and Technology, Sports and Arts and Culture, Mr Elleck Nchabeleng conveys his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the Northern Cape Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education, Mr MacCollen Jack.

Mr Jack, who had previously served as the MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, passed away on Wednesday, 12 August 2020. Mr Nchabeleng said: “Mr Jack’s passing is a huge loss to the education sector, especially during this time when strong leadership is needed the most.”

He was a teacher, a nurturer and his passion for education will not be forgotten, Mr Nchabeleng said. Mr Jack had previously been an educator, a principal and a chief education specialist in the Department of Education.

Mr Nchabeleng extends also extends his condolences to the Northern Cape Education Department, educators and learners, whom Mr Jack had previously served.
